Year 3
Year 3 & 4 Homework Grid – Summer 2023
Welcome to Year Three
As the children move into KS2 we support them to become more independent learners. They are encouraged to try new challenges in lessons and to celebrate their successes. The pupils are given opportunities to take on a variety of roles and responsibilities within the class and are encouraged to take pride in both their own appearance as well as the appearance of the classroom.
In Year 3 we try to link different aspects of the curriculum to our class topics. A variety of learning styles are deployed to meet the children’s varying needs. Personal achievements are celebrated and house points are awarded.
Home learning is based on you and your child completing different tasks together and exploring the wider world outside of the class. The children should complete nine tasks from the sheet, i.e. one from each different area to ensure they are exploring all aspects of the curriculum. On a Monday they are set spellings to learn for a test on Friday, the spelling book should be returned to school on the Friday. The children need to practise their times tables frequently (and not always in order) to help them develop their mathematic skills.
PE is on a Monday and Wednesday afternoon and the children need to have their P.E. kits in for these sessions. We would ask that they try to have their PE kit in school during the week to allow for any timetable variation.
I am always happy to meet with any parents to discuss their child’s progress or to find out more about Year 3.
